After 13 years of civil war and sanctions, Syria's new administration is inheriting a health system near collapse. The United Nations says more than half of the country’s hospitals and primary care centers have been destroyed. A majority of Syria's healthcare providers have fled the country over the past 13 years, leaving a severe shortage of doctors and nurses. Doctor Mufaddal Hamadeh, an oncologist and president of the Syrian American Medical Society, a medical relief organisation working in Syria, joins Al Jazeera’s live from Chicago.
