At least 800 people killed as earthquake hits eastern Afghanistan

A major earthquake in Afghanistan has killed more than 800 people, most of them in the northeastern Kunar province. The epicentre was near the city of Jalalabad - it measured 6 on the Richter scale and was relatively shallow. Extensive damage has been reported, and rescuers are struggling to reach the remote mountainous area, which is cut off from mobile networks. Al Jazeera’s Michael Appel reports.
