There's also been an electricity blackout. Speaking to Al Jazeera, Zafar Chaudhry, a journalist and policy analyst in Jammu, described scenes of panic, deafening blasts, and an ongoing blackout. He said India’s air defence systems were in action and noted this level of attack was unprecedented for Jammu. Umar Mehraj, a journalist in Srinagar who had recently been near the Line of Control, told Al Jazeera that the renewed artillery fire and drone strikes marked a serious escalation. He noted the situation is rare since the 2021 ceasefire and has left residents deeply alarmed.
