Ivory Coast’s cocoa production faces climate crisis, disease, and US tariffs

The price of chocolate has been rising steadily. Ivory Coast supplies more than 40 percent of the world’s cocoa, but two major factors are hitting the world’s top producer. US trade tariffs are taking effect just as climate shocks and disease slash yields by up to 50 percent in some regions.
