The catastrophic earthquake in eastern Afghanistan has left entire mountain villages reduced to rubble. More than 2,200 people are confirmed dead, and the toll is expected to rise as rescuers search for survivors. Treacherous roads, relentless aftershocks, and limited aid have left many communities cut off. Aid workers are risking their lives to deliver urgent assistance.
