With this easy homemade tip it is possible to weld plastic using zip ties. Here's how it works: Zip ties are made from thermoplastic (usually nylon), which melts and fuses under heat. So when you're trying to "weld" plastic, you can: Make this tip using a small copper pipe insert it in your normal soldering iron Use the soldering iron with this tool to melt the base plastic. Feed in zip ties as filler material while you melt the edges of the crack or joint. Smooth and fuse the zip tie material into the base plastic, kind of like brazing with metal. That´s all.
